Loved how you reframed purpose not as a prize at the end of the race, but as the energy fueling every step.

Thank you Lisha.

I remember the days when most experts were actively recommending that we all draft "Visions of Future". They were similar to Mission statements, and had to include emotion, dreamlike results. I think those are good practices... but

As the years passed, and my lack of experience managed to divert my path, I started to feel anxious about the possibilities of reaching those Visions of Future.

So, I concluded that instead we should have Vision of Present.

So that is how I started mentoring people about that :)

When you cook, apart froom the joy that it provides, do you feel inspited to prepare new meals, recipes? Do you think you have become very good at cooking something in particular?

Yes, definitely. Cooking brings me so much joy, but beyond that, it also inspires me to try out new meals and create my own recipes. I love experimenting with different ingredients, sometimes I even mix spices from other countries, like Arabic spices, with Nigerian dishes just to create a unique taste. I’ve also worked in roles where I collaborated with other chefs to develop new menus, which helped me grow even more in the kitchen.

One moment I’ll never forget was when I worked as a chef at a restaurant. A guest left a handwritten note saying the rice porridge I made was the best she had ever tasted. I still keep that note because it meant so much to me, especially since I had just joined the team at the time. It reminded me that I was truly good at what I do. Even during catering events, I often get referrals based on the meals I’ve prepared. I’ve come to realize that whenever I cook, I pour my heart into every dish and people can taste that.

That is such a beautiful story.

Many of us do not have a clear idea about what are we good at. That is the result of constantly following what others tells us, seeking money and fast results.

Others discover their strengths and favorite activities later on, and then they find it hard to pay the bills because those activities don't always match the market needs.

It takes courage to achieve mastery!
